A Great Day For Your Dog

Image From Pexels
What is your favorite thing to come home to? For us, it is the barking of our furry friend. Our dogs can become our best friends and family in the time they are with us. That is why today we are celebrating #NationalDogDay. Pets are part of the family at The Wilson, which is why we have many amenities to make their lives better. However, we have a few other ideas on how to celebrate this awesome holiday with your four legged loved one.

Start your day at Mission Creek Dog Park in San Francisco. This popular dog park features more than an off-leash area. This park located at 485 Berry Street has drinking water, benches and gravel to reduce puddling. Let Spike run around with his friends and enjoy the gorgeous San Francisco weather.

The Pawington is the perfect place to treat Spike with a day of relaxation. Located near the San Francisco airport, this place is not just for travelers but also local residents. The grooming packages here are not just for a wash and brush, but they offer more luxurious services to really treat your four legged friend. Splurge for a pedicure and blueberry facial to make your dog feel like a mini celebrity for the day. Make sure to call ahead of time for a reservation because they do fill up fast.

Finally, before you call it a night, The Wilson has a pet run that will let Spike get all of his extra energy out from his great day. This is the perfect place for you to have a relaxing night as your dog runs around and enjoys the gorgeous weather with you.

We are so excited to celebrate #NationalDogDay with our furry friends. Even if you are busy today, you can make this special day happen at anytime during the week. The Wilson loves our pet residents as much as our human ones. After your special day, share a picture with you and your furry friend on our Facebook Page.

Unique Cocktails in San Francisco

Image From Wikimedia and Shabbychef
We all love a good drink after a long week of work. However, we also like to change up our order when we go out. Going to the same restaurant and getting the same drink can become boring and routine. Luckily for us, San Francisco has some amazing establishments that sell unique liquors that you can only find in a few places around the world. These may be new drinks, but we are excited to try them.

This liquor is hard to pronounce, let alone figure out what is in it. This liquor was once used as a medicine that was created by apothecary Josef Becher. This gingery-cinnamon drink was mass produced by Becher’s son Jan Becher. It gained popularity and to this day you can still see his signature on every bottle. Try this at Dennis Leary’s cocktail bar Rx and order the Rexall.  The rexall is Becherovka, mescal, pineapple rum and chili tincture.

This drink dates back all the way to 1885. It is a French aperitif that was made famous by Pablo Picasso. Picasso loved it so much he painted the drink in his work La bouteille de Suze. This bittersweet liqueur has only existed in the United States for about three years, but it has slowly become available in bars around the Bay Area. You can try this popular drink at the Belly Up at Trick Dog. Ask for the April, which consists of vodka, dry vermouth, Suze, green grapes, tarragon and lime.

If you love cognac, then you will love this French Brandy that is produced in the Armagnac region of southwestern France. This liquor is a cousin to cognac. It is distilled from wine and aged in oak barrels. You can try it at Trou Normand’s and order the Bombay. The Bombay is made with armagnac, dry vermouth, grenadine and absinthe.

Cynar is a collection of 13 herbs and plants that have been brought together to create this popular drink. The artichoke is one of the many herbs and plants, and that is the plant featured on Cynar’s label.  This drink was first produced in 1952, and it gained popularity in the sixties thanks to many TV commercials. You can try this old classic at Alembic Bar. When you arrive at the bar, ask for the Bitter Buffalo. The Bitter Buffalo is made from bourbon, honey vodka, Cynar and Cocchi Americano.

This new liquor was made in 1927 in Puebla Mexico. In order to make the Ancho Reyes, the poblano pepper is picked and left to dry in the sun until it is blistered. Then, they add in the ancho chile. These two ingredients make a warm liqueur with a natural heat. You can find this liquor at Holy Water San Francisco. Ask for the Inferno Tropicale, which includes lime, pineapple, Falernum, Ancho Reyes and grated cinnamon.

We hope you enjoy these historic but secretive drinks on your next happy hour outing away from The Wilson

San Francisco Music Festival

Image From Wikimedia
Outside Lands is finally here. We are so excited for this music festival held at Golden Gate Park. Many artists from all genres will be here to perform on the various stages set up at the festival. This festival will only be held one weekend, and we have the important details about what you need to know before heading to the park. The best part is that your home at The Wilson is only 15 minutes away from the Outside Lands Music Festival.

Do not get discouraged by the Outside Lands website. The tickets are sold out through the official vendor, but StubHub has some tickets for resale that you can purchase.  These tickets are at your own risk, but StubHub assures that the tickets are official festival passes. There are a few different passes and groupings that you can pick from on StubHub so make sure to check out what is available before Thursday.

Once you have your tickets you have to figure out how to get there. Golden Gate Park is only 15 minutes from The Wilson, but parking is very limited in the park and in the surrounding areas. This is why we recommend using the Muni. There are two different ways to get to the festival from The Wilson. The first option is to take Muni Bus #5 at McAllister Street and Jones Street to 25th Avenue and Fulton Street. Then, you can enter the park from there. The second option is to take Muni Lune N at Montgomery Street Station to 19th Avenue and Judah Street. You can walk to the park entrance from there.

Saturday is the day we can not wait to visit the festival. First, you can laugh until your funny bone breaks from 3pm-4:15pm as the Upright Citizens Brigade performs on The Barbary Stage. Then, make your way to The Lands End Stage for an awesome 80s Billy Idol performance from 5pm-6pm. Finally, at the Twin Peaks Stage you can see Kendrick Lamar perform from 8:40pm-9:55pm. If Saturday is this good, we can’t wait to see the performances on Friday and Sunday.

Outside Lands is one of the best music festivals in the United States. We hope you can find some time to see a few of these great performances this weekend.
